With an unusual dump of cold September snowfall in Avoriaz, our thoughts are turning to the upcoming ski season and we’d like to update you on our plans for the 2020/2021 winter season. We hope you have kept well over the summer and we very much look forward to seeing our clients, friends and family in the beautiful Alps again.

Despite the challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic, we remain very optimistic about the prospects for the 2020-2021 ski season here in Les Portes du Soleil. The local village resorts of Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets enjoyed a record-breaking summer season. Their hard work implementing new Covid-safe procedures and hygiene and distancing measures will allow us to enjoy what will be a different, but successful and safe ski season.

La SERMA, the company which operates the lift network in Avoriaz, have now published their winter plan for resort. France Montagnes, the umbrella organisation bringing together all the partners involved in tourism in the mountains having also produced a very comprehensive visual guide as to what to expect from a ski holiday this year.  In summary, expect to wear masks on lifts, socially distanced lift queues, and an abundance of hand sanitiser. There are currently no set limits on the number of passes to be sold and a new Avoriaz Up&Down app with real time information on lift queues will be operational to help avoid crowded places.
