MOUNTAIN SAFETY & AVALANCHE AWARENESS
2.5 hour classes designed to prepare you for off-piste hazards

Avalanche awareness - Terrain Analysis

Emergency procedures including transceiver training

INTRODUCTION CLASS: For those who have done no formal avalanche or mountain safety training in the past, or those who would like to go over things from scratch.
​
REFRESHER CLASS: For those who have done similar training in the past, this class reacts to the experience of the group whilst still making the key points clear and easy to remember.
​
Where:
Meeting point is outside the Avoriaz Alpine Ski School hut in Avoriaz, beside the Folie Douce
​
When:
Normally 9:30-12 & 13-15:30 - dates are announced each Thursday for the following week
​
Please note our instructor's schedules are flexible this season - if you cannot attend the times we have suggested, feel free to suggest another date/time to us
​
What to bring:

WARM CLOTHING

Footwear - please bring boots that you can stomp around in deep snow in. Ski or snowboard boots are perfect.

Backpack. If you have your own Transciever, shovel and probe then please bring your own equipment. No problem if you do not own this as we have kit you can borrow for the course.

Mask

COVID-19 Safety:
Please wear a mask to the meeting point.
Attendees must fill in and bring a COVID disclaimer.
Please keep your distance from others and wear the mask whenever you are within 2 meters of anyone else. For most of the course social distancing will be easy, allowing you to stand back and breathe freely.
