All our instructors speak English and will work with you to improve your skills using modern teaching methods. All hold the
highest international qualification, are registered with the French authorities and members of the Ecole de Ski International.
We are also an affiliated member of the British Association of Snowsport instructors. This means that we are checked
annually to ensure we meet the high standards of BASI.
If you have a favorite instructor please request for privates, courses are pre allocated.

Ian McKellar - Director
ski, snowboard & adaptive.
Ian formed the original school in 1992. He is our current Director and has 32 seasons teaching experience in the Alps, 27 of them in the Portes du Soleil. His background is in mogul skiing and he represented Britain at world cup level. He was an examiner for the British Association of Snowsport Instructors.
Ian is an advanced driver trainer in the summer and his passion is windsurfing.

Laurent Calvet - Snowboard Director

Laurent was one of the original snowboarders in Avoriaz over 20 years ago and his a real hot shot on his board and skis. He will introduce you to jumps and flips in the park on board and skis. Fluent in French and English with many years teaching in Avoriaz.

Mark Ryder ski
A passionate skier and cyclist Mark returns to us for the coming winter and will be working with us during some of the busy weeks. Mark looks forward to developing your technical skiing skills and snow awareness in a relaxed and fun environment whilst guiding you around the biggest winter playground in the world.

Mark McKellar
ski, freestyle &adaptive.
Mark is the youngest British instructor qualified teach in France. He is our mogul and park expert. Mark holds the BASI, freestyle and adaptive qualifications. His last two season have been in Verbier, his clients included Joddie Kidd and Russian millionaires!
Mark works as a beach life guard for the RNLI and loves sea cliff climbing, surfing & windsurfing. |

Fred Foxon ski
Fred's 3rd winter with us. With 30 years of experience Fred has taught in over 50 resorts in Europe and North America. Fred worked for ten years as a senior trainer and examiner for BASI, Britain's professional ski instructor training body. He was editor of our national teaching manual. He is also a senior tutor and sports coach with the National Coaching Foundation. Fred will be working with us during the busy school holiday weeks. |

Jean-Marc Lawrence ski.
Jean-Marc 4th winter with us he has taught in the USA and as a race coach on UK dry ski slopes. Fluent in French with good English and many years working in Avoriaz and the Portes du Soleil. Jean-Marc will be working with us during the busy school holiday weeks. |

Tom Wilkes ski
One of the new generation of young British instructors with a fresh approach to ski teaching. Tom has worked in Europe for the last few winters and will be with us part time this session.
